Ghana has been an interesting place to be for all time but especially in the period of time from 6th January to 7th January, 2021, it has even been more interesting. Following the first sitting of the 8th parliament in the 4th republic, an interesting turn of chaotic events took place in Ghana’s parliament over the election of the speaker of parliament. Interestingly, the number of parliamentarians on both sides of the major political parties in Ghana this year has been very close. This made the election process of parliament an interesting one, with no one wanting to accept defeat. This saw one member of parliament even snatched the ballot papers for the election of the speaker.
Hon. Carlos Ahenkorah, previously, had already been in the news for something controversial. This was during the covid-19 period. He allegedly and intentionally mixed with healthy people even after testing positive for covid-19. Fast forward to this year, he has made the news after snatching the ballot papers and running at the speed of light in parliament. However, as Ghanaians are, we like to associate any action to do with parliament or governance as inspired by the thirst for money. As such, people thought he was paid to snatch the ballot papers. Several allegations abounded and images of it are circulating.
I know this is Ghanaians just being Ghanaians as usual. But do you think there could be any iota of truth in this or it’s just for fun. Share your thoughts.
